It's time I give my testimony for The Wortman Plan. I started out as a chubby boy weighing 185lbs my junior year in high school. It was then I decided it was time for me to lose some body fat. I cut 20lbs of fat to down to 165lbs which was my ideal weight. I started training to gain muscle mass just like the typical guys at the gym not knowing a thing about nutrition. I was always told "Eat to grow" and "There is no such thing as over training, only under eating." With this being said I ate anything I could get my hands on... Pizza, fried fish, u name it I ate it. I gained over the years 82lbs mostly muscle but also water and fat included. It was then I realized I needed to break away from the typical "swole" look (water weight, etc.) and actually go for quality muscle. This past November I had bilateral carpel tunnel surgery but after I healed I was at 247lbs I started eating clean with some guidance from a trainer which helped a lot. I got down to 224lbs around 5.5%BF. Now I was using digital calipers which we all know isn't an accurate measurement. But it was a guide line to go by. I have known Josh a while and we had talked some about training and what not and he had been trying to get me to try his plan out. With me being at a sticking point I chose to go with his knowledge and just see what he could do for me. It's always best to keep an open mind and to not think you know everything. So I jumped on his 18 week plan. He re-calculated my macros and manipulated my carb timing throughout the day. I would weigh first thing in the morning before I ate and would text him my weight. After he monitored my body for a while he re-adjusted my macros again. I was steadily dropping a pound a day so he had me throw in a cheat meal so he could see how my body responded. Remember this is a customized plan for YOUR body. After he saw how I responded he made a few other tweaks here and there. Also my schedule is kind of crazy so he had a meal plan for morning workouts, a separate one for afternoon workouts, and last but not least one for rest days. He answered any questions I had and if I got tired of eating a certain food he already had it down as to what I could substitute for it. I stuck to his plan because we all know "You can't cheat the grind." If its not on the menu then you can't eat it, simple as that. Anyways, The ending result of his plan I weighed 209.5 at 4.6% BF which is a loss of 14.5lbs while still maintaining muscle mass and a loss of about 1% BF. 1% may not sound like much but the lower you get the harder it is to lose and not sacrifice muscle mass. I was very pleased with his program and have been getting tons of compliments from random people so its definitely a noticeable change. I'm looking forward to working with Josh again for my next clean bulk. I'm going to see if he can take me to another level. I highly recommend his plan. But keep in mind... It's his plan...he makes the changes not you. Don't be that person who justifies your cheats that you don't tell him about.
Well yesterday I was dragging. Usually I am ok with a night of little or slack sleep, but this new training system is intense and taxing on the body and demands all areas of the grind be covered....training of course is, nutrition, and sleep/recovery. You slack on any of these, and your gains will suffer. Boy did I feel it yesterday. Thankfully it was a recovery day anyway!
Today I have my Upper Loading Day which will be heavy upper body work, but I also have some lower body pump work as well. Anyone who has ever seen me train knows that I am big on Intra Workout nutrition. Pre, intra, and post training is when I consume the bulk ofmy carbohydrates of the day. That is what you intake during training, and I will dedicate another blog post to this soon. Well I copped some Glycofuse by Gaspari Nutrition from VS yesterday that was on sale. Glycofuse is comprised of the best carb source for intra workout nutrition available on the market....cyclin dextrins. I usually opt for a cheaper carb source, but hey, 2 for the price of one you can't beat!
Another thing I am super excited about is that I received my first bikini client. I will save details for another blog post, but Kelsey came to me and decided she wants to compete. She is already in incredible shape, and has made an unreal transformation. Kelsey is a trainer herself and just needs that extra set of eyes and tweaks to bring the best possible package. Click here for Kelsey's Instagram page! I encourage you females especially to check out her page because the girl is a go getter for sure and super inspirational. She doesn't like to brag but I give credit where it's due. Kelsey is a double business major business major at a prestigious program. and maintains a stellar GPA ALL while being a personal trainer AND making incredible progress. This one is going to be fun because Kelsey succeeds at whatever she puts her mind to and will definitely own the stage. Look for much more from Kelsey in the future and be sure to follow her progress!
